Much space in the souce of the browser

Dear all,

When the php webpage is run by the browser, the php codes have already been compiled by the server. When opening the source code in the browser, we discover that there are much space left in between the html codes. Anyway, how do we do in order to remove all the unnecessary space in html code after compiled the php codes, thanks

There's "extra" whitespace in the html that php writes, only if you explicitly write it. Look for instances of "\n" in your php source and get rid of it. Same for sequences of 2+ spaces.

lack of \n tags can also cause white space.

I don't follow: \n is not a tag, but even so as a whitespace character, how can lack of it cause more whitespace?

I can't remember the specific circumstance that I had, but it was a mix of HTML and PHP and it caused a long white space on one line, so it was horizontal white sace, not vertical (as I assume you are referring to).
