Newbie Help ?

Hi,

I am a newbie to php and mysql. While I have managed to get a db up and running I need help extracting some info from it.

Picture this, a db with one table.

Each time someone clicks a link on my site it adds 1 to the count for that url. There are hundreds of url's.

How do I do a top ten list query ?????

Columns are: ID, Count, URL & Size

Any help would be great

I think it would be a good idea if you just spent a few hours reading the MySQL manual, read the section about the functions.

SELECT *
FROM table
ORDER BY count DESC
LIMIT 10

Vincnet's right, plus I did this once before with a very high traffic site, the locking problems almost killed me (I removed it and did something with the web logs instead).

Thanks for your help. I have read the MySQL manual a few times but I must say its not the clearest document I have seen.

Are there any good resources for people new ot this on the net that anyone can point me too ????

The MySQL manual is perfectly readable, but it's not a newbie-guide or anything. It tells you what mysql can do, not how you should do it.

For tutorials, check the articles section and look on the devshed website.
