dynamic links

I have pulled values of a column (date) out of a mysql database and have them displayed on a page as links.

printf("<a href=\"%s?day=%s\">%s %s</a> \n", "file.php",
$myrow["day"]);

The links then call "file.php". I want each link to pull its own data. For example, if today's date is the link, when I click on it, I want it to pull the entire row of data where date = today.

Any ideas?

I can imagine something like;

if ($query_string) {
if (!empty($day)) {

// then somehow grab the day from the (date) in the table using date() or something. then...

$result = query("select * from table where date=$day");
showtheinfo($result);
}
}
function showtheinfo($result) {
do whatever to the page here...
}

If i understood correct, that is. If not, maybe I woke up some ideas...

I think you might wanna capitalize $QUERY_STRING....

I'm not sure how to grab the data. Here's my code:

Uhhh, i think the variable you are looking for is $day NOT $date....

does it matter what I call the variable? Also, don't I need to define the variable somehow, b/c I don't receive errors, it just doesn't pull the data?

Pay close attention to the line below that you pasted in your first post:

printf("<a href=\"%s?day=%s\">%s %s</a> \n", "file.php",
$myrow["day"]);

If you find a variable called $date anywhere there, you are incredible. If you find a variable called $day, then maybe you should check for that instead of $date, as you are in second post.

Does it matter waht you call a variable? Depends, if you want to see it, yea, calling it by it's correct name will work. If you don't, as it appears in this example, then you will not see it.

$myrow["day"] is pulling the data in the column named "day". How is that $day? I've tried $date and $day and neither work. I must be doing something else wrong.

To simplify life, try this:

echo "<a href=\"file.php?date=$myrow[day]\">Get my data</a>";

Now, file.php can see $date.

I finally figured it out. I tested by using printf ($day); and it was passing the variable, so I looked further and realized I had not included how to get the data. I inserted an if statement

if ($myrow = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
printf yadda yadda
printf yadda yadda
printf yadda yadda
}else{
echo "Sorry, no records found";

Also, I had to add single quotes around $day in my query statement.
