recurring error in index.php

the part of the front page where the slashdot cache is displayed constantly throws an error. it is:

Warning: fopen("cache/Slashdot.cache","w") - Permission denied in /export/everest1/weblab-services/forums/wwwfiles/nuke/mainfile.php on line 662

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in /export/everest1/weblab-services/forums/wwwfiles/nuke/mainfile.php on line 682

i changed the permissions of the file Slashdot.cache to be 0664, and this solved the problem temporarily. when i accessed the nuke later on, the error was back.

has anyone expereinced this? if so, what did you do to permanently remove the error?

It is obvious that after it worked the file was seved via this script this means with user 'pcguest' and new permisions! It is prefered each time when you executes saving of files on the server to use function 'chmode'.
The sintax is:
chmod("filename", "mode");
where mode is octal value.
