javascript call php function?

Hey, just want to know if javascript can call a php function, maybe something like onclick="php_function()" ?

Simple answer: No.

Longer answer: PHP does its thing, which almost always included sending data to the browser via HTTP. That data might include JS which executes on the browser, but this is (a) long after PHP is done executing, and (b) even if it weren't there's no tcp/ip connection/session by which this kind of process-to-process communication could be carried out anyway.

Thanks, so do you have a suggestion on how to call a php funtion by clicking ah html link? I just want to click and execute an database quiery based on what was clicked.

To get to PHP you'd have to get back to the server, so have that link go to another page, or to the same page (it would refresh the page). Put your parameters in the URL so you can get them back out on your next page.

<a href="somepage.php?id=2">click me</a>

Then somepage.php would be able to use $id to execute the query.

Or do you need more specific details?
