how do i make my text appear as asterics

i am creating a website and i need to make text as i type it appear as asterics in an if statement. Basically what i am trying to do is type somethiing like Bubble and have it appear on screen as ******. i need this to insert it into an html document. This is for a school project so i greatly appreciate any help.
