I've just read the first few paragraphs of the new article. For gods sake, if the editors can't be botherd to edit (just cleaning up the english would be a start) how can we be expected to read?

If it weren't for this forum I really wouldn't bother. In fact, f_u_c_k it, i dont think I will.

I kinda sorta agree with you. The last few article I've read, IMHO, are amateurish, poorly written examples of a programmer with an idea that they want to make "the rule". I dunno, my rule has always been "when your house is on fire, call a fireman. when you need an article, get a writer. when you need an application, get a programmer..."

But these boards are good, lots of good info every day.

True. I expect I'll still use them. I've written the occasional article myself, mostly for fun and the edited versions are always just that little bit more políshed.

I fail to understand why they allow this obvious drivel on what was a well respected site?

I dunno... I've never really even been out of the country, but I've used the word 'spelt' in proper context for as long as I can remember.
I think you'll still find english professors and the like that use it commonly... I've had a couple. (.2c>/dev/null ?)

I'd have to say the the quality of the articles wen't downhill as soon as Internet.com took over. They are obviously more interested in the number of impressions that they can get off of there new banners than they are in actually supplying quality information.

I don't know about that, Nick. I never came here for the articles. Sure, I read them once in a while when they pertained to a project I was working on at the time, but pretty much I ignored them. This forum was really the only reason I started coming here regularly and is the reason I keep coming back.

Although I agree with you as far as the articles go, I wouldn't hold the PHPBuilder community responsible for Internet.com's problems.

Internet.com's takeover has really raped the quality and consistancy of the articles (no, Nola, I'm not going to write one. I can be disappointed and express that disappointment without deciding to try to fix it) but the forums are still decent. In fact, I've always kind of wondered why the forums were tucked away to the side-bar ... but then, perhaps its just me.

You are seeing a practical example of the difference in quality between a few devoted individuals and a faceless corporate bureaucracy.

I hear that. I didn't start coming here, or stay here for the articles, but it is really nice to be able to point someone looking for answers to a well written article on this site that explains what they need to know instead of having to explain the same stuff over and over again.

I guess i'm not an experienced programmer although I certainly don't class myself as a beginner anymore.

What really bugs me is the half hearted attempt to make this site anything more than a forum.

Firstly - you need to watch your language! English have thousands of words why use profanity? Seems to me that you need an editor yourself...

Also, why won't you write an article yourself and give us all a link. I wander if your writings will scale well. It is one thing to master knowledge, yet it is different to pass that knowledge to other people.

I agree with Nola. In Russia we have a saying that you don't look in the teeth of a given horse. If it's free - what are you complaining about???

Finally, if you don't like something -> be an agent of change. Make your own website, write better articles, have better forum, etc.
