touch(); won't work

i am writing a small phorum for my site, and touch(); won't work. I tested to see if it would work with touch("test.txt"); and it said permission denied. Do you know if i can change a setting in PHP to give me permission, or do I have to contact my server admin?

Change the permission yourself? If you have a capable FTP program, that's all you need. Of course you'd better review the directory/file you're changing permissions on and make sure you're not opening a wider hole than you can comfortably live with...

do you mean chmod? i have the chmod at 666, it doesn't work.

you have to add `w' right on the directory in which your file is found.
