Getting a php script in site?

Hi, i've a pre-made site, but i wanted to add a poll. Now i downloaded a script from www.hotscripts.com and installed + configured everything correctly. But the problem now is: How do i get the script in my site? I've tried to copy and paste the script-code in to my html file, but that didn't work...
I'm a total beginner in php, so i haven't got a clue how to put it in my site...

The name of the script that will put the "answers" of the poll in html is vote.php. When i click it i see poll questions and answers fine, but how do i get it in a pre-made table in my site?

Presuming your host runs php you should remame the page to whatever.php so that the php engine parses the code.

As for formatting and everything else, how could we possibly know?

My advice: Stop messing around with pre built rubbish, Learn HTML, then PHP it's alot easier than it sounds and we will all help you when you enevitably hit trouble 🙂

Well, whats the difference between making a script myself, and downloading a pre-made... I eventually will learn php myself, but i just want to get this page online on time...

Alright, i'll rename the html file to php. But where do i have to put the code?

is it a code that will point the HTML to the contents of the "results" php file.

Or do i have to paste the whole code (of the results file) in the spot where i want the poll to come?

Or an other method?

(And why does posting go so ^%#& hard...)

first, like nick said, rename the file to php or shtml, or phtml then in the html coding were every you want the @!#$ to show up simply put ....

if this does not help, you are screwed and should go to a site like pollit.com or something and just make a poll there and link to it

I've put in the line that nick told me, now something doeds appear, but not right. Only the Submit-button is being displayed, nothing else... (I renamed the site to index.php also)

Well, they look like standalone files that contain both the HTML and PHP so you shouldn't include them in HTML at all . Just use them as they are. I presume this download came with some instructions?

You should probably try pollit.com if you can't get what you need from the scripts.

Then learn HTML and PHP!
