help needed

i new to this forum and wanted to ask a simple question.

i have a project wich involves creating a web message board.

i have some experience in java and was thinking of doing it in jsp.

i have been advised that php may be simpler !

can anyone give me some pointers

There are a lot of message board programs out there, why not grab one of those? (Yes, written in PHP)...

i know. that is an option. but as this is a uni project i really need to be building it up from scratch.

its between jsp and php. thats the dilema im facing because ie done some java, but i hear php is simple to use for my purposes

OK, but grab one of em, Phorum for example, and use it as a guide. You're PHP is pretty easy/quick to learn....
