Stuck with a linking problem!

I'm doing a major redesign on my website, and I've come across a problem that for some reason I just can't get my brain around! Here's a little background info:

I'm running PHP/MYSql, and here's what I'm trying to do:

I have a table that lists people, I have a page set up to put that entire list in a table. I am trying to make a link on the person's name so that when a user clicks on that name, it opens a new page with the details on that person.

This seems simple enough, but I guess I've been looking at code for too long and can't seem to get past this one.

well, the people are in the table with the basic information, but when I click on their name to get a new page with all of that person's details, I get the new page, but it lists the details for everyone who is on the original list, not just the one that I clicked on.

Are you sending the userid through the URL and picking it up in the script?

well, this is where I show my newbie-ness. I think so...when I click on the person's name on the list, it opens the new page that I'm expecting, in the URL the person's name that I clicked is there (...Name=%stacy%...) but it isn't limiting the information shown on the new page to just that one person, it's showing everyone.

here's a snippet of what I'm using on the main list(this is probably completely wrong lol, but I'm learning as I go):

Wether the script actually limits the results to the ones you want depends on what YOU tell it to do.

Receiving the vars fro the URL is described here:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.variables.external.php

You will have to edit your script so that it changes the SQL query when you do have a 'viewchar' in the URL, and to not change the query (give the full list) when you don't.

Note: it is very risky to use parts of the URL in a query. In your case I guess you want to list only the people who'se name matches with what is given in the URL.
However, a little hacking in that name can cause your entire app to crash.

It is better to change your database so that it gives a unique userid for each person, and to only send that id in the URL.
