Dynamic content vs.search engines

We are considering making a transition to a database driven site using phpWebsite or Post-Nuke. The benefits seems enormous to this kind of site. The only thing that gives me pause is that search engines for the most part won't check out these sites since it reportedly messes up their spiders.

My question: With all the benefits of dynamic content, is it worth switching over to a DB driven site? I'm worried about losing traffic. I'm not a good enough programmer to program my own pages with the bells and whistles of a Post-Nuke. Couldn't even think about it. I read Tim's great article, but I'm not sure I could impliment it on Post-Nuke. Is it wort the switch?

Don't worry about it to much, there are tried and tested techniques for insuring that search engines treat your dynamic pages just the same as static ones.

If you check out my site http://www.explodingnet.com and go to one of the articles you'll notice that the URL is a bit weird: ~/articles/latest/8/

It's the same as ~/articles?section=latest&id=8

There are a few articles on how to do this including a very good one on http://www.sitepoint,com but if you are considering a premade solution just check to see how they handle it.
