Order by timestamp

hello!
i have made a forum and after six months a found that i have made a terrible mistake!!!

i want to order topics from the earlier to the older. So i thought to "order by timestamp DESC"

is seems to be right but the topics do not order as i want.

Do you have any solution?

is it the unix timestamp?

it is mysql timestamp.
i suppose as from unix...

insert into table(timestamp) VALUES(NULL).

it is a way to create a mysql timestamp.
