PDF files editing with PHP

Hi people.

I have the question regarding to editing existing PDF file without PDFlib.

My host do not want to instsall PDF lib on its service. Right now, I'm just opening the file as text, making proper corrections - and thats all. But this file does not want to open later in acroReader 5. reader 4 says - file is corrupted, but nevertheless it opens it properly.
I do not know what version of acreReader the endUser of my site has, thats why I want to make sure that this PDFfile will work properly on any user's computer.

Unless you can write a .pdf binary format in ASCII without error, there isn't much you can do without a proper PDF library. If you have access to another machine on the same network (or internet) that is running ClibPDF of PDFLib or HTML2PDF or whatever you could send the parameters to that machine, make the file, and transfer it to the client. Kind of insecure and wasteful, though.
