Hi all!
(Sorry so long!)
I have one variable, $semail, whose value is "doe_jon@mail.com", for example. I also have a variable named $to whose value is my email address. Now, I have a variable named $headers whose value is "From:$semail\r\nReply-to:$semail\r\n". When I insert the variables $headers and $to into the mail function, along with variables for the subject and body, I do not receive an email. However, if I replace "From:$email" with "From:Goofy", it works and Goofy has and @ followed by my sendmail server's hostname. Also, the "Reply-to:$email" variable resolves to "doe_jon@mail.com" as it should. However, if I replace Goofy with Goofy@mail.com, then I'm back to receiving no email. So, it sounds like when either the mail() function AND/OR sendmail see an @someotherhost.com at the end of the From: address, it refuses to send the email. Otherwise, it just appends it's own hostname to the end. Also, if I do not assign a variable to $semail, the email goes thru but the From and Reply say "nobody@hostname". I'm thinking it's a sendmail problem, but I can't seem to track down where the problem lies.
Sendmail 8.11.x
RH Linux 7.2, 2.4.13
PHP 4.0.6
Apache 1.3.22
Any ideas?
Thanks,
mack
