though i am developing an intranet system based on php, this question is not related to php as such.
what i wanted to know is that is there some simple way of indicating a new message in your mailbox, by using sound or something kind of like yahoo messenger and msn messenger. the point is that the person using the client node and the email may not be sitting in front of the computer the full time, so there should be some way of indicating to him/her that a new message has come to the inbox. one soln which i thought of is refresh the page with a bgsound. is there any other way? anything to do with activex?
