I am using the Manuel Lemos email validation class and on my ISP it is not validating emails from the hotmail.com domain or the talk21.com domain.
I wrote a quick check and for most domains gethostby name is correctly resolving most domains and returning an IP address but for hotmail.com it just returns the string "hotmail.com".
I contacted my ISP about this and they sent me the following reply:
"The only thing I can think of which had changed, is that the dns server
on server 6 is no longer recursive. However the resolver is configured
to use a DNS server which is recursive. It really depends on whether PHP
uses the resolver on the server or queries the dns server running on the
machine directly, I do not know which method it uses."
Does anyone have any more information about gethostbyname that I can pass back to my ISP.
