I have considered that, but was looking for a cleaner way to do it. Using Socket connections seemed insucure and perhaps over kill for the project I am working on. The goal of the project is to allow people to post messages to a site, PHP will scan those messages for certain words, and diplay different animations of charachters based on the mood key words may emote. The entire conversation between two charachters would be show on a seperate page. True real time message pushing is what I am shooting for, but perhaps not imperitive. It would be nice, though, if the information could be seen right away when it is posted to the database rather than having a bunch of manual refreshing on the client side.
