Php4 and Apache Question

We have php4, apache and my sql running on RedHat 7.2. We have our new site in place. when we type in our host name, it diaplays the php coding instead of the web page. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 was already uncommented. I typed in httpd -l | grep php and it took me to the #. After checking all o fthat , it still did not work.

Stupid question: did you restart apache after editing the config file?

Have you checked apache's error logs?

FYI: "httpd -l" only lists the modules that where compiled into PHP, not the shared objects.

Yes I did reatart the Apache and the Log file is empty.

Are you running PHP as a compiled-in module, as a loadable module or as CGI?

Not sure, we configured it based on the RedHat 7.2 Installation.

Did you actively install PHP or just install redhat had hope for the best? :-)

I may be a good idea too see if Apache's config really has the PHP module loaded at all (check the httpd.conf). Just uncommenting the PHP lines as mentioned before is not enough.

Also, read the installation section of the PHP manual to get a better idea of what needs to be done to get PHP working.

We selected the PHP package duing the install of RedHat. We will read teh installation section one more time. Thanks

make sure that in httpd.conf the PHP module is listed in the LoadModules section.
