Fatal Error?

Sorry, I'm new at this and I don't know where to put my question. Came across this forum while trying to search for an answer..

Anyway, I get the ff. error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: sql_connect()... in main.php on line 22

Line 22 on mainphp is this:
$dbi = sql_connect($dbhost, $dbuname, $dbpass, $dbname);

Is there something wrong here? Please help!

there is no such function sql_connect() built into php.
