php source showing up in my browser

Hi all,

you probably think this is a problem with a non workin php install.. but it is not.

My problem is that if i write www.site.com/index i get the php source, if i instead write the complete URL www.site.com/index.php it works as normal. Ive checked my httpd.conf file and the php.ini and i just cant get it, im not sure how long time this isue has been there since i recently found out about it. I have stopped the problem by adding a <file index> in httpd.conf but every .php file can be viewed this way, do you have any idea of what can be the problem.

Check if there is file without extension at www.site.com with the name "index" in php format ;-).

If it will not help, I'm sorry.

Nope i only have the index.php.

It is so strange, i have found another site that also had the same problem.

You've started the file or bit'o'script with.

<?php or <?

is it just a simple hello world?
