Superimpose an Image

Hi, Is it possible for a user to upload an image to my web site, then overlay or superimpose an image over the top of it, then the user could download the new image?

have you looked at the GD functions?

It is possible to manipulate images with the GD module installed.
You can find info about it at http://www.boutell.com/gd/

the php manual also includes a comprehensive list of functions you can apply to images.

The only thing you need to define first is whether you want to manipulate GIF o JPEG, because there are different GD versions depending on which format you want to cope with. As far as I know it is not possible to have support on both formats at the same time

it is possible, but illegal. the creators of GIF have revoked the 'free of charge' licences.

None do, because GIF is nolonger free, and GD was designed to be a free tool.

If you are into doing illegal things I'm sure google can supply you with the required information. But note: as the GIF creators nolonger supply their code free of charge, using it without a paid license is illegal, and allthough the chances of them catching you are small, if they do, you are in for the high-jump.

Anyway, PNG and JPG are much better than GIF.

You r right,
I usually can cope my needs with JPEG support ... I hope it doesn´t turn it into an illegal practice in the future :-)
