Linux talking to Novell?

hi everyone,

i need some help with my project, involving linux and novell netware 4.11.

setup

there are several clients which are cascaded to a linux (RH7.1) server via a switch. also a novell netware server is connected to the linux server via a port on the switch. all client machines are installed with win98.

questions

1.is it possible to access the novell netware server thru the client machines(assuming IPX has been added in win98 clients).

2.in the first place, is such a server-switch-server connection possible? if not, can anyone suggest ideas since my networking knowledge is not even zero, it's negative.

3.there is a accounting package running on novell server. can the clients access the same package from the above setup?

1. Yes, as long as you install the Netware client on the Win98 systems. I recommend installing IPX only since you're not using TCP/IP on the Netware server. Use the MS TCP/IP client on the Win98 systems.

2. If you mean the Netware server, Linux server, and WIn98 clients are all connected to the switch, then you're fine. I don't understand what you mean by the clients being "cascaded".

3. Depends on the accounting package software requirements. Most apps require a mapped drive and a client install. If that's what you need then you'll be fine.

Hmmmm, none of your questions concern Linux talking to Netware.
