posting code help

hey everyone; i have a question on converting PHP to HTML... kinda complicated... well, lets say you have in a Mysql database this:

"the sky is blue.

the ground is brown."

and you retrieved it and echo[d it with mysql. The HTML would show up:

"the sky is blue. the ground is brown." because of the HTML, it doesn't insert line breaks. How can i fix this?

HTML does not render line breaks on its own, you need to help it a long a little, I picked this up from either this site or php.net

$str = ereg_replace("(\r\n|\n|\r)", "<br>", $str);

$postingcode = str_replace("\n","<BR>",$postingcode);
