PHP extensions

how would i configure apache to recognize PHP for no file extension (a working way)..

instead of: index.php?file=new

index?file=new

i know there is a way because i've seen it done on servers. please help! thanks. i haven't had a working way, yet.

I don't know if there is a way to make apache function without extensions, but maybe in the addtype statement.

However what you can do is read these articles:

And see another way to modify the look of the URL to your site. These articles explain how to build in functionality that will allow search engines to spider you site, it has the added benefit of allowing you to have URL's that look like this;
