Where to format Date?

Again, I am a two dayer...

Before I toss this cpu through a plate glass window...

here is a snip of my code... and I can't figure out for the life of me WHERE/HOW To format the date.. IF i try to format in either spot I get errors...

$dt_created =  $row[dt_created];

    $display_block .= "

If you are storing the date in a database as a DATE or DATETIME type, then look at the date/time function in the database manual (for MySQL, look at DATE_FORMAT())

Then you can select formatted data and just print it;

SELECT DATE_FORMAT(parameter, parameter)
FROM table;
