How to link from db

Stupid question. I am fairly new to PHP and finally got mysql going with php. The question is how would you create dynamic links with php using mysql? For example,

www.yoursite.com?siteid=401

So you passing a variable? Can that talk to a mysql db? How would I go about doing that? I just simply want to make links dynamic so i can just pass the variable and it reads from the db and does the rest

well I meant was what does the ending do? www.yoursite.com?siteid=401

What does the end mean? i know it is a variable passing but what is the equal sign and the number mean? is this interacting with a db such as mysql? if so how does it work?

It simply means that you want to pass a value named 'siteid' with a value of '401'

Note: thise does NOT mean you are passing a variable named siteid. PHP will create a new var called siteid, and fill it with '401'

No problem about newbie questions, just make sure you do you share of research before you post a question, because most of the time the answers are right there in the manual or in other posts (they don't call them frequenstly asked questions for nothing)

A URL can not interact with a DB directly (for obvious reasons)

You will have to create some script that processes the values that you get from 'outside PHP' as described in the manual, and use those to fetch the proper data from the database.
