reading main doc from inc. file

Hello everybody.

I'm going to try to describe what i'm trying to do and hopefully someone can help.

I have e.php, l.php, i.php pages that share one include file. Based on the php page it is on the include file needs to display various links (all different). So if the include is on e.php it would display links 1,2... if on l.php it would display links 3,4 and so on.

What I can't get is how to make the include recognize e.php , l.php or i.php...

I've tried so many things that I don't even remember now and they all read the include file and not the main file.

Any thoughts?

include files become part of the script when they are included they are not a seperate script that is executed.

Thus, you can just put:

$sParentScript="i.php";
include('script.php');

and then in script.php:

switch($sParentScript)
{
case 'i.php':
echo 'link 1';
break;

case 'j'php':
echo 'link 5';
echo 'link 6';
break;

default:
echo '';
break;
}

I had the switch case going but for some reason it doesn't want to read the variables from the parent page.

I should have also mentioned that they the main file and the include are not in the same folder.

the main doc is in
/version2/albums/

and the include is in
/version2/includes/albums
