text editor for linux

Hi I was hoping someone could suggest some editors to use on php.

I have been using bbedit and editplus for awhile but I am trying to boot in linux more often I just haven't been able to find a text editor that i like as much as those two in linux. I also need to be able to open a file through ftp, similar to bbedit or editplus, i cant seem to find a way to do this nedit.

Yikes! I hate vi. But I am not anywhere near anything that might even remotely resemble a traditional Linux user.

Anyways, the best thing I have seen so far is Scite. You can find it here: http://www.scintilla.org/SciTE.html

The second best thing is Nedit. If my memory serves, you can find it here: http:nedit.org

Like I said, I know practically nothing about Linux, there must be better things around.

Boot into Linux more Often.... hmmmm trying staying in Linux as it is the only operating system worth booting into :-D. Emacs (vi is nice to). But you say emacs can be complicated. True, but the graphical version you dont have to memorize and commands no M-x-M-C or something like that just mouse movements. It offers a nice PHP parser (shows different colors for functions and variables, and keeps up with brackets... etc). It also is nice for about 100+ other languages. Plus its high customizable. Act now and for only 19.95 you too can... o wait that something else nevermind. :-D.
