Hi,

A company has ask to create a AVS system site (Adult Verification System) basically like this one http://adultcheck.com

I have in mind to programming it in php/mysql and only accept payments by CC.

My question is, how much aprox would you cash for creating a site like this?

How long do you expect it to take?

Work out how many hours you expect to spend on it and how much you're charging per hour and use that to work out a quote you'd be happy with.

Worry more about getting what you realistically want and less about the company ripping you off. If they're a half decent company they should come back with a price they're willing to pay if you ask for too much anyway.

make some money on hosting and a monthly design payment. Maintanance is not always necessary but you will get money for it every month!

Yes this construction pays more in the end then just a one time design project.
Believe me i know! That's the way i make money over here in the Netherlands where we don't walk on wooden shoes 🙂

Are you trying to recreate all the functionality of adultcheck? They offer other services other than verification services. The varification process and grouping of sites is simple for the most part. The hard part will be handling the security part of the project with the CC.

BTW- I did a similar project (non porn) with a little more functionality than adultcheck and charged $8k. However I didn't have to port into a CC system. It did have a secure user login system though.

I have also worked on not so ethical (porn) projects and I have charged more for them just because it is such a large market and it is harder to get people to do the work.

I would charge somewhere between $6k and $12k, depending on the effort. This, to me, is more than resonable. Like the post before, figure out how much you want to charge an hour and how long it will take and that is your number. I charge about $40 an hour for a standard project. I would say about 200-250 hours to complete this project. So, $8000 - $10,000 total. Then again it is a "porn" site so I might charge $45 an hour, $9000 - $11250.

Does anyone else agree?

I can see this going both ways. One for the hosting and maintenance and the other for the cash up front.
I am just finishing up a adult site and some of the things that came up were
1) cc, echecks, paypal, etc
2) fraud protection?
3) membership, multiple logins at once

well the list is pretty long .. and you need to ask yourself ... is it your credit or theirs that is going to foot the cc companies.
But Brians estimate seems about 50 to 100 hours less than what I would bid it at now because of the port into the cc system.
