Bad Word Filter

I'm looking for an on-line source where I can learn how to code a bad word filter using regular expressions. Thanks.

well... a search for bad word on this very site sends me to the code library and a function called 'bad word filter'. wouldn't you know it, it uses RE's to filter out bad words.

Thanks so much. I was able to apply the filter for new data that is entered.

I'm using the eregi_replace expression and a banned words list in conjuction with it. Pretty powerful.

Now, how would I apply this filter to the older records, already in the database?
