how can i run exec command

Hi,

PHP is pretty new to me, but i am familiar with javascript and cgi.

I am writing a php file, that can open up notepad.exe, command.exe and rose.exe applications and execute/open up files required.
By a click on a button, i need to open a command prompt and run a java file at the command prompt.

can i do this using php script ?

Sure you can. Check out the PHP documentation in www.php.net in "Program execution functions"
For example the "exec" command. If you want to execute notepad.exe you can type:

exec("notepad.exe");

And it should work. Hope it helps.
