I like MySQL/PHP Database Applications (Greenspan and Bulger) and PHP and MySQL Web Development (Welling and Thomson).
I learn best by example. I find this site to be very useful as well.

From what i seen, the best way to learn is online. It seems the ppl writing these just read eachothers books and make more off of that.
The best are online like this place. PHP.net in the links area as some good stuff.
I got the PHP Bible, and its not the best. It got some low ratings amazon.

the PHP Developers Cookbook is pretty good. I believe they just released a 2nd edition.
