I found a programm under http://www.ultrahal.com/
which let's you offer your
own conversation simulator.

But the only thing they
offer is a form with four
input fields.

how to write such a "simple"
thing in PHP and store that
in MySQL.

I don't quite follow you here, julia. Basically, you want to store a bunch of questions and have possible answers respond back when asked?

But the thing is:
I only want to have a few input fields
in the front-end, so others can train
the "machine", too.

well, then just create a question table, question_group table, and answer table. Quesiton table holds all of your questions. Question_group ties your similiar questions together, and answer has the id from the question_group table attached to it. Lemme know if that gets you started....

Here is the path:

Visit www.php.net, download and install PHP and download the CHM format manual;
visit www.mysql.com, download and install mySQL and download the Windows Help format manual.
visit www.apache.org, download and install Apache OR
visit www.xitami.com, download and install Xitami and the single-file HTML documentation; you'll need either Apache or Xitami to run the scripts.

Reserve a lot of time for reading, scripting and error-proofing. And hang around the forums, you can learn a lot from them. This is the hard way, and the hard way usually works. I knew nothing about programming until a few months ago and now I have a site that is completely built on PHP. Go for it!
