apache problems

i have seen this done before, but i lost the code snippit...can somebody please tell me the code to make mod rewrite on apache to hide the .php extension?

eg. home?file=10 instead of home.php?file=10. I know it can be done with mod rewrite..please help, i've been looking for 2 weeks and i've had no luck.

You don't need mod_rewrite to make php the default content-type; you can do that in httpd.conf and have any file run through the PHP parser.
