graphing not working in php

When I try to use any of the graphing functions in php I recieve and error message:

Call to undefined function: imagecreate()

The program works fine on another Linux/PHP/ mysql server but not on the one I just built running Mandrake.

I thought this may be an gd library issue so I reinstalled gd. This did not solve the problem.

Did you make sure you have the php4-gd module so php can talk to the gd libraries???

This may be a stupid question, but how do I determine if the php4-gd module is installed? If it is not present how do I go about installing it? Do I need to re-install/re-compile PHP with gd. If so is there an easier way around it?

Check your php plugins directory.

/usr/lib/php4/20010901/

Or something like that. I dont have gd installed on my machine but I know that if you are getting an error like the one you are getting PHP flat out doesnt know what who or where GD is.

(The plugin should be like gd.so or something)

If you dont have it try downloading it. From rpmfind.net

Although I have to put in a shameless plug that had you had Debian installed it it would have been a nice

apt-get install php4-gd

End of story.
