Delete lines from a text file

I have my own news posting script, it uses flat .txt files.. anyways, when you post, it takes news.txt, and adds a line like:

0|Title|Dean|News|mail|date
0 is the ID number, this increases every post
Title is the title
Dean is the author
mail is my email
and date is the date

This all works fine, but I was wondering how I can delete certian posts.. can this be done?

It doesn't matter is it screws up the ID number, they don't need to be 1,2,3,4.. Just as long as the new ones are large 🙂

What you could do is read the file line by line into an array

If the id matches dont add it to the array
When you've finished write the array back to your file
