session_register() not working

Hi,

I have 2 same script runnign on 2 different machine, but both also running PHP4.0.6. I am so headach that why one of the machine, can't work with the session_register()? the only way i can create session is using setcookie().

What could the possible area i should look into?

check the php.ini file for the session data.
check and see if it is creating the session file.
check and see if the variables are being written to the session file.
