Picking one word out of a field?

I have a field in a MYSQL table "products" called "products_desc".

The field is a text field and I need to pick a word out in that field to identify what manufacturer that record belongs to.

for example....

1 record is a Kodak 12exp film roll

if that desc field holds:
"Kodak 12exp film roll"

how do I search for that word "Kodak" so I can add something to other field in that table based on a name I'm searching for?

UPDATE products SET otherfield='whatever' WHERE products_desc LIKE '%Kodak%'
