simple php help

Hello I just started with php and am baffled. I have been playing around with it and can't seem to get the text to output correctly. I have a form that takes in name, link and message. now when i hit submit it is supppose to display whatever the input is. however the problem i have is that in my message text box when input a message i hit return and i start a new line, i want that text to be shown with the new line started when the submit button is pressed rather then all of it being displayed on one single line.

Did you read the manual page that Brandon posted? just put the variable that you want to print in the parentheses:

echo nl2br($var);
