Solaris vs Windows

I am running PHP under Windows and Solaris. The configuration is to run PHP as a CGI, so in Solaris I configured without options, only with ./configure

When I run the CGI, it takes about 30 seconds in Windows but in Solaris it takes about 15 minutes (yes 15 minutes). Where is the problem? It´s obvious that there is a problem because Solaris is much powerfull than Windows.

Is there any who can help me?

Is it necessary to configure PHP in Solaris with some options to run faster?

What exactly does the script do?

It converts a file. In some cases add new lines and in other delete others. It depends on the name of the realm.

I´ve forgotten to say that the version I´m running in Window is PHP 4.1.1 and the Solaris is 4.0.6. I don´t know if this is relevant.

How big is this file?

It´s about 700 KB.

HMm.. that should obviously not take 15 minutes.

Have you tried to print some debug information during the scripts execution so you can see which parts are slowing it down?

Yes, but it seems to be correct. If I try to print the name of the realm that it´s being processed in Solaris, I can read the output without problems. On the other hand if I do the same in Windows, I can read nothing, it´s impossible.

I´ve read that the version 4.0.6 has some promblems with the memory. Could it be the problem? In Windows I´m running PHP 4.1.1.

I´ve found a patch to upgrade 4.0.6 to 4.1.1 but I don´t know how to use it.

I´ve installed the PHP 4.1.1 and the script runs as in Windows (or better). The problem was the version. It has some memory problem, in order to this there is a patch to migrate from PHP 4.0.6 to PHP 4.1.1.
