Is SSL required for my site??

Hi,

I am setting up in web design and want to provide my clients with an interface with which they can administer their accounts.

Now the question! All the hard work will be done in php (with good password checking etc..) thats all fine.. What I need to know is do I need to have a site that supports SSL in order to protect my clients logins??

I won't be sending any sensitive info like credit card no's etc... and the hoster I am with charges for SSL as an extra service so if its ok not to use it then 🙂 !
