File type handeling - RTF, WAMP vs LAMP

I have a script, that sends the user an RTF when requested.

Sadly, this script works fine on my WAMP configuration, and when browsing using Windows Internet Explorer, I am asked if I should like to download the file, and it does, and Word offers to open it, and it works, the RTF file reads perfectly.

When I upload the same script to a LAMP configuration, at xcalibre.co.uk, and request the file, it invites me to download, and I download. Sadly, the ENTIRE source of the script it in the resultant file, including all sql commands!!! lol!

Does anyone know what the problem might be, this is most annoying as you might imagine!

Hi,

Sounds like the mime configuration or file extension that you are using for the file is not configured to be executed by the server side module or cgi.

The same thing happens in php if dont have apache configured properly, the whole script is sent in the default mime type of text.

Is there any way of getting round this using .htaccess? because i am a client on this host's server, i cannot change their apache config 🙁

The file contains php and rtf information, the file
starts with php
making a db call, and gets all the data in order, and then
the rtf is
below.. Starting with rtf header info, and going on... This
all works
under winnt 🙂

You're totally right, it’s a .rtf file, with rtf and php data in
it, that I need the server to parse as php, and send back!

I've just tried that, and altho it allows the user to
download it (and
includes all the right code, everything, perfect) it does
not give the
name as .rtf...

The user has to change this to .rtf themselves,
which I don’t
really want to do, but if needs be I might have to

Right, the file name is "triffik-license.rtf", which of
course includes
the PHP tags, I need this file to be sent compiled. The
server uses
PHP4.

Yea you can use the .htaccess file for overriding
any of the
httpd.conf file, providing the apache config allows
you to use
the .htaccess file.

Give me the name of the binary that gets executed and
the file
extension and I will give you the config lines m8.

IS THERE any way I can override this, such as
.htaccess or
something, because I can't config the apache server,
since it
belongs
to my ISP and
there are other users 🙁
