I was wondering, if I used portion of someone's code (functions, string validators, ...) should I give credit to them somehow? The majority of the script would be coded by me, but some elements would have been creted by someone else. If I should give credit, how should I go about doing it?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

as part of my footer i like to include kudos to myself and either a link to or a short description of borrowed code. in the html/php comments include notes where the borrowed code begins & ends.

this is assuming the borrowed code was meant to be shared in the first place...
