File functions Parse error

Hello,

I have PHP4 Installed. All php scripts are running file.
But whenever i run a php script which involves a filesystem functions ..statements like fopen,fwrite,fclose.. then it says Parse Error in Line...

I dont know why this parse error is coming in filesystem functions.
I have a Windows98 with Personal web server.

Please advice.
