PHP CGI vs PHP Apache module

Can someone tell me what's the difference for btw PHP as a CGI and PHP as an Apache module?

Does it affect me as a normal programmer if I have the first or second version.

I understand that the Apache module allows greater functionality? can someone elaborate?? thanks 🙂

I have completed a very simple shopping cart tutorial using ultradev. Now I want to make it using php and include secure pages. I have read through bits of this site and got very confussed, is there or do you know of a step by step tutorial that could take me through the steps of making a secure online shopping cart using php. Thanks.
