cron jobs to run a PHP script

How do you run a cron job to execute a PHP script on a linux server every 10 minutes.

- run every minute of the day
10 - runs 10th minute of every hour.

I want to run a script every 10 minutes.

How do i achieve that ?

You just said it :-)

There are, however, different approaches as to what command you should execute.

You may use;

lynx "http://www.host.com/script.php" >/dev/null 2>&1

Or execute the script directly as a shell-script, if your php installation/configuration supports this.

This often won't work, because lynx claims it needs a terminal...
I did not found a better way but to use "wget", store its output in a temporary file, "cat" that file into a logfile and remove the temporary one...

I am not asking how to run a PHP script in a cron job. I know how to do that and it is being run at present. using CURL.

My question was the cron job on Linux server, how do i run it every 10 minutes.

is the question clear now ?

I did this to make my animals move around the world every 10 minutes at www.onlineanimals.co.uk

I did it by asking the system admin people to set up the cron job for me. Sorry. That's not very helpful is it?

hehehe. Lion is not an animal. Hmmmm better fix that!

Sorry can't ask them. I'm no longer at uni (where the system admin people are) They told me how they did it, but I can't remember. I think it was as Felix Richter says, using WGET to a temporary file.
