Does anyone know of any truely FREE PHP/MySql hosting companies?

Many that advertise as free are free unless you want to use MySql.

Many that advertise as No Monthly Fees charge an annual fee.

php.net has a database of hosts but does not offer the FREE criteria in their search.

Help. Want to play with stuff on the web for FREE. Is is possible or must I pony up the bucks...

Thanks to all who respond!

This is what I am planning on using. ionichost.com and mysql is free

Digital Hosting, http://www.digital-host.net, is the place I used to use. They have had problems due to their ISP going belly up, but I think they're almost ready to get back up and running. You would have to deal with placing a banner or popups, though. They're nice people and good host, as long as they manage to keep running.

However, on the other hand, now that I have experienced pay-for hosting, I shall never go back. http://www.imagelinkusa.com is a great host that offers a TON for $7.99 USA. It's worked out very well for me and my site.

Those are my suggestions to you.

forgive me, but do you have a pc at home?

You can install apache/php/mysql on your drive for free and simulate having a webhost

          or get personal web server
          and download php/mysql

I do it as a way to test code on my compputer before making it live

          (On the pc I have)

And you never have to worry about changed policy, pop up ads or what not

this is if all else fails. Hey, it works, and is great for testing. If you want more info, i can provide it here

            Hiya...

If you can run PHP at some free hosting provider, there's no reason why you can't run the MySQL server on your own machine.

You will need a static IP address (permanent connection), you'll also need to install MySQL on your machine (obviously...)

It won't be bulletproof because your machine might not be as reliable as the hosting providers, but if it's just for playing around it might do the trick...

            Cheers,

            Matt

              Thank you all for responding.

I do have PHP/Mysql installed on my local machine but I need to perform some MySql benchmark testing and need to test on the web.

I've signed up for ionichost.com. FREE PHP/MySQL. Wow! I'll spread the word. Thanks again.

I also run a system like that, but for testing only. If you need something for the web, however, nothing can beat OC-48. 🙂
