MySQL --> .csv --> JAVA-applet??

Anyone got an idea on this one:

I want to save a mysql query in a .csv format file and then use it in a JAVA-dbapplet (which eats .csv). All this on the same webpage, and displayed in the way that when a user logs in only his data (from the MySQL) is displayed in the JAVA-applet...

so you want to call a PHP page, whichs uses MYSQL to generate CSV and then point to a java appet?

I take it you did not make that appet yourself? otherwise you should just program your java applet to talk to the database.

The applet is a freeware database applet which uses .csv files to display the data (it offers some sorting and selecting etc)

My JAVA knowledge is even smaller than my PHP knowledge so that figurs :-)

Any idea on how to create a temp .csv file from a MySQL-db then?

Do you mean dynamically, or in Excel in a browser to then save it as a csv? You can do that by setting the content type of your page to:

header ("Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel");

It will display your database in Excel so you can save it as a csv.

OK, that's an option, maye I thinking to difficult...BUT my idea was:

USER logs in on a page -> query on database -> temporary .csv created -> JAVA applet reads .csv file (user-dependent)

Why don't you write a servelt/applet to handle the query to the database instead of the CSV step?

That would offcourse be much better...if you have the programming skills...

If anyone can do this, there will be at least 30 persons very pleased ?!?

or else any ideas about the csv step?
