feedback required: PHP editors

Hi all,

recently my windows XP installation crashed, killing everything on my PC - this led to great frustration and a lot of cursing... however, nothing could be saved. Luckily everything work related was backed up.

I have however exhausted all patience for windows now and decided to go with debian linux and X-windows for my work related activities - and though it's all working out well, the primary editor I used on windows isn't available for linux. (homesite)

Could you all in your own good time give me some pointers on which editors work well for php-development with FTP capabilities - project management support and other such utilities on linux? I will in the meantime continue to read reviews I can find online.

Just to update all who may face a similar situation, emacs turned out to be a great solution. sourceforge has php-mode for emacs which is quite fantastic, and with a bit of customization, it can integrate php and html quite nicely with syntax highlighting.

For HomeSite people, Glitter is a good option, however, I decided to stick with emacs.

Both offer remote file open and management options and work quite well.
